Rooted in Tradition, Growing Futures: The Heart of 4-H in Maryland for 100 Years

This is where it all began 100 years ago, July, 1925 when the camp had been built and the first Harford County 4-H Camp was held. From this time forward, the Harford County 4-H Camp/Deer Creek Overlook has been hosting camps during the summer months.

Welcoming 4-h Camps From All Over…

We have welcomed 4-H camps from over the State of Maryland, Harford Lacrosse Camps, Harford Music & Arts Camp, Camp Counselor Weekends, Girl Scout Troop Weekends, Maryland 4-H Engineering Camp, Chesapeake Bay Region and many others. In addition we hold 4-H Club Meetings, 4-H Meal Appeal, 4-H Achievement Day, and 4-H Rally Day Camp Reunion to name a few.

Our History

The Harford County 4-H camp is a unique, private non-profit organization run by a 13 member all-volunteer Camp Board, The Harford County 4-H Clubs, Inc.

Our camp is 100% self-funded and relies on income from events and fundraisers, as well as the generosity of the public, to continue to enrich the lives of young people and our community.

Our camp has been enriching lives for nearly a century. The current land of the 4-H camp was first transferred to Harford County 4-H Clubs, Inc. on July 9, 1925. This was the start of Harford County 4-H Camp at the Rocks and the first Harford County 4-H Camp was held that year. The camp is the oldest 4-H camp in Maryland and one of the oldest continuous use 4-H camps in the country.
