Board of Directors
Apply to Join the Deer Creek Overlook Board of Directors!
Thank you for considering membership on the Board of Directors of The Harford County 4-H Camp and Deer Creek Overlook.
The purpose of this volunteer board is to provide oversight, administration, and maintenance for the 184-acre property that is home to many 4-H, youth, family, church, and business groups throughout the year. The board also oversees a small group of paid staff that manage the kitchen, pool and cares for the facilities grounds.
Together the board of directors, the paid staff and additional volunteers work together year-round to ensure that all groups that utilize the camp have a safe and enjoyable time here.
It is expected that all board members are able to devote at least 10hrs a month to the camp. Camp Board member expectations include:
- Regularly attending and actively participating in monthly board meetings.
- Participating in a committee and any required committee work.
- Assisting with fundraising and events throughout the year (planning, promoting and/or attending).
- Conduct oneself with courteous manners and language, exhibiting a friendly and professional attitude, serving as a positive role model, treating others with respect, and demonstrating reasonable conflict resolution skills.
- For those holding a community group seat on the board, you would be expected to bring updates to the camp board from your group at each board meeting and report back to your group all camp events and happenings.
- Passing a criminal background check.
If at any point during your term you are unable to meet these requirements we ask that you step down from your board position so that the board continues to be productive at all times. Per the bylaws, the board also has the option to relieve members of their board position if they can no longer meet these requirements during their term.
